GCUC Radio Episode 10 – Coworky Awards

Tony Bacigalupo was back with Jenny Poon and Iris Kavanagh on the Coworky Awards for another episode of GCUC Radio.

Coworking Awards

The Coworky Awards was the first award event for the coworking movement.  The Coworky Awards started out of the desire to create an impactful event that was not in competition with the other events already out there.  These awards highlight the spaces that are changing their community and not getting the recognition they deserve.

This gives spaces an opportunity to share their stories to a larger audience.  An important differentiator between smaller spaces and big gorilla spaces is the unique identity that comes with them and the impact that they can have on local communities.

Why do they matter?

The Coworky Awards not measuring the size of the spaces but the actual impact they have on those around them.  Many smaller spaces are able to compete with well-funded giants but are not given the chance to showcase what they have done. The categories  are meant to be representative of the space as well as the people within each of the spaces.

There is one award called the “Member’s Choice Award” for which members can vote their own spaces.  Communities within spaces can rally around this award if they feel like their space has made an impact in their work life.  This is a powerful award because coworking is all about the members.

There are categories that cover an array of topics.  The Coworky Awards is just a fun event for the coworking community to take part in and unite around.

You can participate in the Coworky Awards at http://coworkyawards.com.
